As the viscosity increases, which is common in high-performance rebuilds (GT1R Engines are spec'd for 20w50 Oil), the factory filter begins to become a restriction to the thicker oil.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eMost filters have a bypass that opens around 10psi differential oil pressure. What this means is when the pressure on the inlet side of the filter becomes 10psi higher than the pressure on the outlet side of the filter, the bypass opens and you get unfiltered oil passing into the engine. This is bad for obvious reasons. \u003cbr\u003e \u003cbr\u003eThe WIX Racing filters are designed for thicker racing oils and higher oil flow rates (which comes with increased RPM). While their filtration spec isn't quite as good, ~60 micron vs ~ 35 micron, all of your oil is being filtered. 60 micron is better than no filtration! The Racing filter flows 28gpm, where the XP version flows 9-11gpm.\u003cbr\u003e \u003cbr\u003eThe increased surface area, and increased flow capability of the racing filters ensures less pressure drop across the filter (which equals more oil pressure at the engine), and in the case of the recommended 51060R WIX Racing filter, there is no bypass, so 100% of the oil is filtered 100% of the time. \u003cbr\u003e \u003cbr\u003eFor those that do more street driving than track driving, the WIX 51060XP filter is a good option. The higher than average bypass setting of 15psi, and increased surface area, will result in little if any bypass as long as the filter is in good condition, as flow will reduce as the filter gains contaminants stored. \u003cbr\u003e \u003cbr\u003eThe GT1R Oil Filter adaptor includes the conversion base, threaded filter boss adaptor, and a WIX oil filter of your choice. The threaded filter adaptor is female on the OE side, and has a retaining clip to keep it together with the conversion base. Because of the heat and exhaust pulses present in an exhaust system, you need to use a reasonable section of coiled hard line between the exhaust and the sensor to protect it from the heat. This is both inconvenient and hard to do cleanly. In addition, doing things this way will get you a very rough signal, as the exhaust pulses will make it very difficult to make useful without very heavy filtering in the logging software. Filtering also causes delays, which you don’t want. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThe GT1R EMAP Damper Kit includes two custom dampers which attach to the back side of the cylinder heads and get exhaust pressure input through the secondary air ports in the exhaust ports. They designed the rear engine mount out of 6061-T6 billet aluminum to be able to clamp down on the axial forces of over 2000 HP like those experienced in our Alpha Queen GTR. They finished it in black anodizing with a prominently engraved Alpha logo. All of the mounts form a complete system that improves power delivery while saving weight. When you are racing for records every single ounce counts. AMS Engineers took this as a challenge when they were creating our solid GTR engine mount system. As conditions change, some shortcomings start to show and must be dealt with in order to retain reliability.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAt high engine speeds (over 7500rpm), there is considerable windage in the crankcase. This causes aeration in the oil and the result is the oil pump ingesting air bubbles rather than pure oil. When an oil pump takes in air instead of oil, it is NOT GOOD for the engine.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBelow you can see two examples of the difference in oil pressure at higher RPM before and after this kit is installed. Unfortunately changing the VR38 over to a dry sump oiling system is a very big and expensive job, so it’s not ideal for many people. The GT1R CNC oil pan and pickup adaptor is a great alternative.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWe began development of this oil pan in early 2015, with various sheet metal samples being built before finalizing the design and moving it over to a CNC piece. By increasing the depth of the pan and optimizing the oil pickup location, we were able to increase the capacity by 1.5 quarts and get the oil pickup into a better position for high G acceleration.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe pan requires trimming the first layer of the plastic underpanel that goes under the oil pan. This panel has two layers, so the bottom layer stays in tact and fully covers the oil pan.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis kit includes the GT1R CNC Oil Pan and CNC Oil Pickup Adaptor. The oil pickup adaptor replaces the factory gasket with an o-ring on each end, for improved sealing and ease of install, and includes all new hardware necessary.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e**Note – this oil pan CAN be installed with the engine still in the car. The rear pan bolts are close to the sub-frame.
